About Our Beef

What is BTC Beef?

BTC Beef is a small farm-direct beef business based in Caledonia, Ontario. We raise our own grass-fed Red Angus cattle and sell directly to local customers, so you always know where the beef came from and there's a real person to talk to if you have questions.

Where is your beef raised?

Our cattle are raised on our farm in Caledonia, Ontario. When we say local, we mean a source you can identify and a farmer you can contact—not simply a label on a package.

What breed do you raise, and how are the cattle managed?

We raise Red Angus cattle on grass, using rotational grazing: moving the herd between pasture sections so each area gets a real rest before it's grazed again. It takes more planning than leaving cattle in one field, but the pasture holds up better over time.

For a closer look at the reasoning behind those moves, read Why Rotational Grazing Matters.

Why buy directly from a local farm?

Buying directly gives you a clearer view of where your food comes from and how it was raised. It also keeps the farmer in the conversation, supports a stronger regional food network, and shortens the chain between pasture and freezer.

Our article on why buying local beef matters explains the idea without the sales pitch.

Why is it called BTC Beef?

It's a nod to Bitcoin. We like dealing directly with people, no middleman, no bank taking a cut, just a straightforward trade between the farm and you. Bitcoin is our preferred way to pay for that reason, though we accept other methods too.

Choosing Your Order

Boxes, Quarters & Halves

What can I order?

Our main options are a ready-made $599 Beef Box and larger quarter or half beef orders. The box is an approachable way to try a useful mix of cuts; a quarter or half is intended for households ready to stock a dedicated freezer.

What comes in the $599 Beef Box?
  • 2 T-bone steaks
  • 2 rib steaks
  • 2 sirloin steaks
  • 3 round steaks
  • 1 roast, approximately 3 lb
  • 16 lb ground beef

Availability can affect final details, so we confirm the current box when you order. See the full Beef Box breakdown for cooking and freezer ideas.

What comes with a quarter or half?

A quarter or half gives you a broad assortment that can include T-bone, Porterhouse, rib, round, tenderloin, and sirloin steaks, plus roasts and ground beef. It is a much larger order than the ready-made box and is best suited to households that cook beef regularly.

How are quarter and half orders priced?

Quarter and half beef are currently listed at $9.99 per pound. A quarter is approximately 200–250 lb, and final weight varies. We will confirm current pricing, availability, and next steps before your order is finalized.

Can I choose my cuts?

The ready-made Beef Box is a set assortment. For a quarter or half, tell us what matters to your household when you inquire. Processing details and available options can vary, so we will explain what is possible before you commit.

How do I place an order?

Use the order inquiry form or email btcbeef@gmail.com. Tell us whether you are interested in a Beef Box, quarter, half, or simply have a question. We aim to reply within 24 hours with availability and the next steps.

Is everything always in stock?

No. Farm-direct beef follows a real production schedule, not an endless warehouse inventory. Availability can change, especially for larger orders, so contacting us early is the best approach. We will give you a clear answer about current timing before you make plans around an order.

Getting Your Beef

Delivery & Payment

Where do you deliver?

We offer delivery across Southern Ontario, from Niagara to the GTA, including Hamilton, Brantford, Waterloo Region, Guelph, and surrounding areas. Include your city in the order form so we can confirm the details for your location.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery details depend on your location and order. Share your city when you contact us, and we will confirm the available option and any applicable cost before the order is finalized.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bitcoin is preferred. We also accept cash, e-transfer, and online payments. If you are unsure which option makes the most sense for your order, ask when we confirm availability.

After You Order

Freezer & Kitchen

How much freezer space will I need?

The ready-made box is the more manageable starting point. A quarter is approximately 200–250 lb and needs dependable dedicated freezer space. Freezer layouts and packaging vary, so measure your available space before ordering and ask us if you are unsure which option fits.

What if I do not know how to cook every cut?

That is normal, especially when you move from individual grocery-store cuts to a mixed farm-direct order. Our recipe library is organized around steaks, marinades, roasts, and ground beef, with measured ingredients and clear methods.

Where can I learn about the different cuts?

Start with our Know Your Beef Cuts guide. It covers the steaks, roasts, brisket, ground beef, soup bones, and stew beef available from BTC Beef, including the best cooking direction for each.

What is the simplest way to avoid overcooking steak?

Use an instant-read thermometer and check the centre before the steak looks finished from the outside. Our recipe page includes quick references for rare, medium-rare, and medium. A short rest after cooking also helps the steak finish evenly.

Still Wondering?

Ask the farm.

If the answer affects your order, freezer, or delivery plans, send us the details. You will get a clear response from BTC Beef—not a generic support desk.
